Request to Remove Blender Exports Options

Post  vang0330 on Mon Feb 23, 2009 3:50 am

I am a newbie to IPhone programming and looked at a few popular IPhone game engines available. I must say SIO2 got to be the best. One request I have for future revisions is please remove all the options from the export procedure. For example, removing the N, O, V, IN (this is gone in v.1.3.3)...3 left to go. Smile The reason is, I cannot get consistent exports with the most minor change. For example, when I regroup vertices, or change face color, or change shape size, etc., I get undesired rendering results. I had a nice box with different colored faces which exported fine except for the IPhone not rendering hidden faces. I just lengthened the box and now the IPhone renders white triangles (parts of faces for the box). My steps are:

1.) Export with no options selected.

2.) Export with U, N and IN selected (for v.1.3.2).

I have a box with different colored faces and am using Tutorial02 to rotate the box with the IPhone touchscreen. Rotating reveals faces in the back are not rendered.

1.) Why is the box missing faces using the exported method above?

2.) What is an appropriate export method? For example, just export with all options? This does not work out also. It would be nice not to have to worry about this. I would rather have a script that exported correctly and consistently all the time, even if it takes longer. Rather than relying on me, the user to to determine when an option applies. This allows only more room for error on the user's behalf and time with permutating the options.

Thanks.

Ok just to clarify:

NO = Export the vertex / face normals, it should only be toggle if you are planning to use some lamps.

OP = Will optimize the selected object by removing doubles and converting quads to triangles. When toggled the exporter will not output anything.

VC = Bake the vertex color based on the current lighting conditions. Same as OP when toggles the exporter will not output anything... just bake the vextex color.
