Normals / Smooth rendering Empty Normals / Smooth rendering

I was wondering how normals are treated in SIO2. I would like to render a model with averaged normals per vertex, but the current rendering seems like this is not done automatically (the model looks quite "flat"). But when I look at e.g. example06, the models look pretty smooth. Is there any particular thing that needs to be done in Blender to get a smoother rendering?

Best,
Matt

I just found it myself. Hitting the "Set smooth" button did the trick.

It's all done in blender, every faces can be set independently to be smooth or solid, what you see in blender in the Viewport Shading.
