The selection mechanism will render the object without material... So every object will have a unique color that can then be use to determine which object have been picked... Multiple color on the object is irrelevant here... Check tutorial06 for more info.

Hi ,
I have checked tutorial 06 I am using 1.3.1 and i think there is lot of difference between 1.3.1 and 1.4,
so if i use the code than there comes lots of error, and if i use my sio2 file in tutorial 06 nothing is visible.
in tutorial i found that only blender sio2 object rendering is there but code part is missing.
how could i learn it like i am unable to do new to tutorial 06 or I am unable to implement selection of object
in my tutorial.

If you are just starting out I think you should be using version 1.4, especially since the version you stated is now several revs behind.

Good luck
