Animations
Hi!
Is there some way to do the skeletal animations with the current release ? Or is this a future feature (wich would explain the stars on the "technology" site) ???
Thx in advance, Xident

Re: Animations
Not at the moment, however Im not sure if its going to be in the next one or the one after... For the next release you can expect IPO, so skeletal animation is close... but recently I start playing with soft body physic so... I think i'll finish the soft body physic integration and then go to skeletal animation... (basically all the basics are there with the IPO, only need to export the skeleton and apply the IPO matrix on the vertices of the vertex group so... however the testing is quite tedious so I want to make sure that everything will be as you guys are expecting it... so be a little bit more patient.
However for bone animation don't expect miracles it is slow compare to linear interpolation or even MD2 on the device so... MD2 will probably be faster... however I might go to a similar approach similar as MD5 so it is still bone animation but not as complete as full NLA skeletal animation...
Cheers,

As sio2 said, ipo is on the way. with my help, sio2 will come out with many updates and possible bug fixes. Not to be cocky, but anyone with coding experience can help!
Re: Animations
For me, skeletal animation would be *huge*. I really hope you add it soon.

Re: Animations
Actually bone animation are not really suitable for iphone... it requires alot of calculation that have to be refreshed every frame... and if you want to have a purely independent bones that interact independently with the physic world that's even more calculations... I had develop a first version purely calculated on CPU and I was not satisfied by the performance that's why I take it out, at the moment the only way that I would see to speed things up is OES_MATRIX_PALETTE, but the matrix stack number is limited to 9... which also cause me problem talking flexibility...
Anyway, Im planning to start working on that pretty soon as well, but there's some other important issues that have to be fixed so... be patient or you can always start by using the following loader:
http://tfc.duke.free.fr/coding/src/md5.c
and
exporter:
