Is there a way to to cel shading in SIO2, at artist level (i.e. in Blender) ?

Hacky but efficient
Select faces > Duplicate, scale them a little bigger than original model > flip normals > color vertices black...
Should do it...
For the grey shading that moves on the model, just make a gradient and apply as a cube map with filtering...
*Thats what i used to do back in Directx 7 (ah, those days)

the powerVR SDK has a demo of cel shading done with openGL 1.1. It has the name 'Mouse' in the title but I don't remember the exact name. Just download the powerVR linux SDK and look through the demos and you will find it. I have been meaning to try to port it to SIO2 but my openGL skills aren't quite there yet. If you make and progress please do post your results.

I have yet to see a cell-shaded OpenGL app that looks good.
They never look like cartoons, but rather like a raster image, trace-bitmapped in Flash.
