Yes. You need to find if there's drivers for your graphic card

Expiriencing the same problem on OS X 10.5 on PC (hackintosh) with ATI X550 (256 MB VRAM) and Blender 2.48.
Starting Blender from terminal in debug mode './blender -d' shows more fun:
Code:

...
Color depth r -1073746560 g 0 b 3089
Aux buffers: -1073746560
...
It's a kind of madness ) May be the problem is in the drivers 'cause other machine with OS X 10.5 runs Blender well.

i have solve the problem , my graphic card dont surpport the Quartz Extreme.
