Mesh deformation and animation
Hi
Does anyone have any ideas or have any experience with doing simple physics (spring / mass model) of mesh models on the .sio2 files. Basically I'm looking to detect collision and then just animate a simple deformation of the object based on the force.
I'm a complete newbie and am evaluating SIO2 for my application .. so any input would be appreciated
thanks
Raj

Take a look at iPunch on the app store, which was made with SIO2, it does exactly what you mention... (if I understand your question well)
Re: Mesh deformation and animation
Thanks. I just had a look at the iPunch app and there is no mesh deformation. When you punch the dummy .. it just moves in 3D space. Now if the dummy deformed with the punch that would be what I am looking for. It would basically involve changing the vertex points of the model in real-time.
I actually came across 2 app videos on youtube which do this (dont know if they use sio2 though) .. but here they are :
[1] Flag simulation : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQVxxffQ3Dk
[2] The iBoob simulator (This is an over 18 app .. ) But the physics here is actually very close to what I'm looking at. Its 3D, realtime mesh deformation : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBNu6WMfR1k&feature=related

I haven't looked at either of those apps, but boob animation shouldn't be *too* difficult. It's kind of like animating a swimming fish.

Ok now I get it... what you mean by "mesh deformation" its in fact soft body physic... and Yes SIO2 support it... a tutorial is on the way but you can start checking the exporter (cuz Blender do not give access to the variables yet, so I use the object properties to export them).
