Bitmap Font Generator
Anyone know a bitmap font generator for MacOS, either an app. or a script (for the Gimp or something)???

Re: Bitmap Font Generator
I've been trying to use F2IBuilder but it is not working for me. This is actually driving me nuts ;(
I generate a font bitmap (e.g. ComicSansMS 16x16) with a black background and when I open the image the background shows as Gray.
Then I guess for SIO2 I need to convert it into a .tga bitmap image, right? when I do it in photoshop, the resulting .tga is completely white.
Also, I noticed the generated .tga bitmap is much bigger in size than the pgn one - can SIO2 use PGN font bitmap?
Also, does anyone know (besides ftblender which is old) of a tool to convert TTF fonts into bitmap ones? I tried using ftblender but the resulting font does not get picked up by SIO2...also I made sure they are a power of 2.
Thanks in advance for any help with this

Ok I tried many different ways, still no go.sio2interactive wrote:Then I guess for SIO2 I need to convert it into a .tga bitmap image, right? when I do it in photoshop, the resulting .tga is completely white.

I use F2iBuilder and the font Comic Sans MS - I'm trying to generate a 16x16 one. Alpha is on by default - if I set a size of 256x256, some chars are truncated at the bottom, I tried playing with adjusting metrics limit (e.g. bigger limit) but it does not change much as lower chars are still truncated...if I don't change the texture size, the default generated size would not be a power of 2. I'm having issues as far as understanding this utility and being able to generate a comic sans MS 16x16 pgn bitmap which is a power of 2...I must be doing something very wrong or missing something obvious with this program...argh...

Issue Solved
Ok I solved my issue by disabling metrics in F2iBuilder and adjusting the bitmap in Gimp directly.
I now have my Comic Sans MS 16x16 rendering fine in SIO2.
Cheers

Re: Bitmap Font Generator
F2iBuilder 3.8 just got released - it supports more texture sizes and you can now move the charset if needed.
http://f2ibuilder.sourceforge.net/download.html
If anyone is aware of a tool to convert TTF fonts into bitmap ones, that would be great.
I have used ftblender but it does not always work...
