I had to write a plug-in for blender to import our existing model data from our pc game. The texture was originally assigned by setting the faces uv coords and assigning and image to the face. Blender would properly render the texture and use the uv coords but when I exported with the sio plug-in, it would never include the images in the sio file. After looking at the sio exporter, I noticed that it never checks to see if any of the faces have texture images assigned to them. I ended up resolving the issue by modifying my importer code to create a material instead and assign the material to the mesh. This seems to have resolved the issue.
Just wanted to put it out there in case anyone else is running into this issue.
